Welcome to
Black People Outside!
About Us
Inspired by our realization that we were often the only black people exploring national parks and many of our local trails, we embarked on a journey to raise visibility for people of color (POCs) in outdoor spaces. Our goal is to break down invisible barriers that prevent us from exploring the outdoors and ensure that everyone can enjoy the beauty of nature.
We use social media to share outdoor adventures to our 100K audience. We quickly evolved into organizing free group hikes for Chicagoans. We specialize in finding outdoor adventures in and around Chicago with a focus on Illinois. In this blog you can expect to find information about local Chicago hiking trails and parks, nature and outdoor based activities, camping tips and tricks, day trip itineraries, weekend getaways and more!
