KOTI in Traverse City

The Most Perfect Luxury Beach Getaway in Traverse City

This time we were doing a gig in Traverse City and we were booked to stay in these cute little homes called KOTI. The first thing I loved about this place was the clean chic layout of the entire property. The teal blue colors to the simple wooden siding and decks makes this the perfect place to call home (for a while). When you arrive you will see the massive, colorful  KOTI sign that leads you to a cool suburban street of identical cabins numbered 1-15. The first cluster you drive by is called the KOTI Pod. It is a pod of 6 houses that you can rent out all at once. Perfect for groups up to 22 people! We stayed in KOTI 11.

Ours was a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom Koti. Perfect for a small family of 4. I loved the glass windows everywhere allowing for lots of light to enter the structure. Even though it was not sunny most of the time, we still had tons of natural lighting. The big windows also allow for you to experience nature from the inside. You are surrounded by beautiful trees and foliage, its really nice to see all that beauty from the inside too.

Each Koti has a cooking ready kitchen stocked with dishes, cookware, and all the latest appliances like stainless steel fridge, stove, oven, and dishwasher. They leave a couple cleaning starter items like dishwasher pods, dish soap, and paper towels to start out with. We did not run out of anything but I am assuming you would replace your own after you run out of the initial supplies. But don't even trip because theres a giant Meijer supercenter barely a mile up the street. You can walk or bike on the trail to the store or you can take your car, neither are a hassle.

We went to the grocery store to grab a few things to cook over our stay. We would advise you to do the same because you're gonna wanna cook in the luxury kitchen. I made us beef and broccoli with rice. The meal was super easy to whip up. I had everything that I needed in the kitchen to cook with. As we ate we watched life after lockup on the big screen TV in the living room. Kam connected his computer so we can watch shows, but you don't need to do all that. You can just log into your netflix and Hulu or whatever streaming accounts you have. It does log you out every time the TV shuts down so you will have to deal with that headache everytime. But I have a strange feeling you won't be watching much TV, you're here for the adventures.

Speaking of Adventure, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park (pictured above) is only 45 mins away from this location. So if you find yourself wanting to visit national parks but the campground is booked up (which it WILL BE), you can book yourself and your family a comfortable KOTI. The property is also near a bike and running trail. We ran 4.5 miles each day we stayed here. We ran different routes along the lakes, beaches, and forest. Don't worry, if running aint for you, KOTI has Ebike rentals! They coincidentally had the same (Dirwin) brand bikes as us. Except they're the smaller version called The Pacer. We love Dirwin so it was really fun to ride another version of our fat tire Ebikes. Plus we know the owner of Dirwin so shoutout to him for sellin’ bikes and gettin’ money.

After exploring Traverse City Beaches and parks youre gonna wanna relax and clean up at the KOTI. I love the bathrooms here, they're full of light and have GIANT mirrors. The showerhead is to die for. It has different settings but I loved the rainfall one. It was so hard to get out of the shower, it just felt so good. I ran out of hot water though so I had to get out. Since i'm a runner we found the washer and dryer in the bathroom to be very useful. You have to buy your own laundry materials but that was alright with us. A $6 bag of Tide Pods did the job.

Trail on property

We found out from the owners that KOTI is a brand new property built over the last 2-3 years. They started building right before the pandemic and they had considered tossing the project. But then they had the opportunity to build a trail through the property, yes a trail. We used the trail every single day! The owners have plans to build more KOTI’s but I think they should build an amenity suite. Where it's the main place to meet, greet and play. They could have a pool or hot tub for the people to use. I imagine a few pool tables and ping pong too. Maybe some giant Jinga, i'm not sure. But they could use a common area to add more unique amenities. They probably don't need all that, there's so much adventure in the area already.

There's plenty of parking outside of your crib, but you may need to park at the lot by the visitors center and Banquet area. Koti has a room that can host up to 150 people plus overflow parking. They are ready for weddings and parties so don't forget to ask about renting that space too.

But overall I loved it here. I wish we could stay forever. We had to stay an extra night due to a scheduling mistake, and the owners made that swift and easy to book. I will be back here, hopefully with my own group of glampers. Check out The KOTI Experience here
