About the Trip:

• Ski Lessons at Alpine Valley: As we move into the season of snow, we are partnering with Arcteryx to invite you to come ski with us! We are providing you with a transportation, free lesson, lift pass, and demo gear! 

What to expect :

We will be meeting at the Arc'teryx store on Friday January 24th at 8AM. *I know y'all gotta work but you have almost a month to request the day off or act sick. in order to make this work for the price, we had to do this on a weekday* 

Please arrive to the store by 8AM so you can be fitted for your ski jacket and pants! These are demo items from Arc'teryx. You will be able to borrow a waterproof jacket and pants (limited sizing available) so you don't need to worry about having ski clothes. Your sizes will be collected upon confirmation. If you are concerned about your size BYO snow pants and jacket just in case. 

Transportation to and from the slopes will be provided. We will load the bus at 8:45AM and depart by 9AM sharp. The ride to the ski resort will take at least 2 hours. So we recommend bringing / eating a big breakfast. The bus does have a bathroom for you to use along the way. 

When we arrive at the resort we will be fitted for our skis, poles, helmets, and boots. We will collect our lift passes and head to our ski lesson. The lesson should take about an hour and a half. Here we will learn the basics like stopping, turning, riding the lift and slowing down. This is where your gear will come in handy. We will be falling and rolling in the snow so having our demo gear will keep us dry! 

If you have bags and loose items you can leave them on the bus or you can rent a locker at the resort. 

After the lesson you will have a couple hours to explore the resort on your own, grab some lunch or just chill out if you find that skiing is not the thing for you! We will show you the designated meeting spot before we part ways.

Between 3PM and 4PM we will drop off our gear, collect our belongings and change our socks (if wet). Then we will meet at the predetermined spot to load the bus and head back to the store in Oakbrook where we will drop off our demo items and say goodbye or go shopping. We should be back by 6PM (no promises tho)!

FAQ's 

When can I sign up? We have a very few spots so we will be issuing tickets based on a lottery system. 

How can I sign up for the lottery? We are opening the interest form to our newsletter participants. The interest form will be linked in the December newsletter. The December newsletter will be sent out on December 30th 6PM CST. We will leave the interest form open until January 6, 5PM CST. I will send a confirmation email that same day to the people that were selected.

Why didn't I get the newsletter? The Newsletter will be delivered to your email  on December 30th at 6PM CST, If you sign up by 12/30 5PM CST. If you sign up for the newsletter after the date and time stated, you will get the next one in January. Please check your spam if you did not receive the newsletter after signing up on time. 

Can I drive myself/ Meet you there? no, we do not have the capacity for extra planning. If you need to carpool from Chicago to the store, we can arrange that just let us know on your interest form! 

Can I or a friend tag along without a ticket? No, unfortunately you have to be okay with riding solo dolo for this event; as we cannot guarantee pairs to be selected in the lottery system. We cannot accommodate a larger group this time. Everyone will be in the same situation so it's the perfect time to meet someone new!  

Is there Parking at Oakbrook Mall? Yes, Enter the mall at the light right off Highway 83 (Kingery). The light is at the intersection of Hodgers RD & Highway 83. Park at the lot directly in front of L.L. bean. The store entrance will be in the interior of the mall, first store across Starbucks

How do I know if I secured a spot? We will email the lottery winners on January 6, 6PM CST. I will also be selecting a few alternates to be invited if all the spots are not claimed by the end of the week. The google forms receipt is NOT your confirmation. Look for an email titled "BPO Hikes: Ski Trip Confirmation" in your inbox and spam. The email will include a link to a private signup page to collect your info, deposit and confirm your attendance. If you do not get an email please look out for the next ski event!
